Intel Meteor Lake brings changes, with one unexpected benefit
The next-generation Intel Meteor Lake and Intel Arrow Lake processors have just been leaked with new information. Intel appears to be planning a major overhaul of its existing chip architecture.
The CPUs will also introduce a new socket, necessitating the purchase of a new motherboard; nevertheless, they are similar enough to their older brothers that one important component will remain unchanged.
Although Intel Raptor Lake will be released this year, the corporation has already detailed the next generation of processors and is making preparations. Intel Meteor Lake will debut in 2023, with Arrow Lake, Lunar Lake, and Nova Lake following in 2024, 2025, and 2026, respectively. Of course, the closer we go to the anticipated publication date, the more cynicism we should have about it. However, the 14th and 15th generations of CPUs are rapidly approaching, so expect them around 2023 and 2024, respectively.
The socket that Intel Meteor Lake and Arrow Lake will use is the subject of the newest batch of leaks. Intel normally only keeps the same processor socket for two generations. The LGA 1700 socket is used by both Alder Lake and the forthcoming Raptor Lake. Meteor Lake CPUs will use a new socket design called LGA 1851, according to recent sources.
The purported LGA 1851 socket is dubbed Intel Socket V1, according to Benchlife. Moore's Law Is Dead reported just a few days ago that the new Intel socket would be LGA 2551, however this has since been refuted. If Benchlife's story is correct, we now have some information about Meteor Lake.
