If you're feeling under the weather today, I propose curling up next to a Capcom "Summer" package. It has more Monster Hunter, Devil May Cry, and Street Fighter action than you can shake a stick at. This fantastic deal is accompanied by a 2K sale, which is slashing over 70% off a number of high-quality games. Finally, anyone with Obi-Wan fever should pick up the 24 galactic credits Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which syncs with the Star Wars timeline.
Activision officially introduced Modern Warfare 2 earlier today, revealing the first details regarding the sequel's multiplayer suite, campaign, and Warzone 2 as previously anticipated.
The announcement was followed by pricing and presale information, of course. Modern Warfare 2 will be available in at least two editions when it launches this autumn on Battle.net, Steam, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Customers will pay $99.99 for the Vault Edition, which includes more Operators, the Season One Battle Pass, and other bonuses. Meanwhile, no platform will see the standard version of the Modern Warfare sequel fall below $70.
The $10 price increase for current-gen games has been a long time coming, especially given Take-Two and Sony set the pattern with games like NBA 2K21 and Demon's Souls at the outset of this console generation. However, it appears that the price hike for Modern Warfare 2 will also effect PS4 and Xbox One owners.
The $70 cross-gen bundle is now the only option to get Modern Warfare 2 on last-gen hardware. Many Call of Duty players have reacted negatively to the news.
Twitter users MrGruntington and Edco responded to charlieINTEL's article by saying that such "premium" pricing should only be reserved for games sans microtransactions.
Modern Warfare 2's regular version costs $89.99 CAD ($69.99 USD) in Canada, while the Vault Edition costs $129.99 CAD ($99.99 USD). In Australia, the cheapest option is $109.95 AUD, while the Vault Edition is $159.95 AUD.
It doesn't appear that $70 will become the industry standard for AAA movies any time soon.
